Privacy
What we collect, why, and how to get it removed. Plain English.
If you subscribe
We keep your email address so we can send you new stories and news about The Dosage, usually once or twice a week. That’s all we use it for. We never sell or share it with advertisers. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also email info@thedosagemag.com to be removed and have your address deleted.
Sign-ups are stored by our website host, Netlify. If we move to a dedicated email service to send the newsletter, your address will be stored there too, and we’ll update this page.
If you email us
We keep your message and contact details so we can reply, follow up a story or fix a correction. We don’t add you to the mailing list unless you ask.
When you visit the site
The site shows ads from Google AdSense, which help pay for our journalism. Google and its partners may use cookies to show ads, including ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can turn off personalised ads in Google’s ad settings, and visitors in Europe and the UK are asked for consent first. Read how Google uses data for ads.
Our host keeps standard server logs, such as IP addresses, to run and protect the site. Fonts load from Google Fonts. Videos come from YouTube and only load when you press play; YouTube may then set its own cookies.
Counting visits
We count visits with Google Analytics. It uses cookies to tell us things like how many people read a story, how they found it, which country they’re in and what kind of device they use. We look at totals, not at individual readers. Google processes this data on its own servers, which may be outside Australia. You can stop it with Google’s Analytics opt-out add-on or by blocking cookies in your browser. Read how Google uses data from sites that use its services.
