68 Melbourne bus routes have new timetables, with 202 extra weekly trips in the north
New timetables began on 68 Melbourne bus routes on Sunday 25 October, timed to connect with trains after the Metro Tunnel opening. Most routes only shift their times, but eight in the north get extra services, and five will run on public holidays for the first time.

New timetables started on Sunday 25 October on 68 Melbourne bus routes, Transport Victoria says. The changes, announced on 9 October, are designed to better connect buses with train services following the opening of the Metro Tunnel.
For most of those routes, only the times have moved: Transport Victoria lists them as "Bus re-coordination only". On many, it says the timetables at stops will not be updated until after 25 October, so passengers should check the journey planner for the latest times.
Who gets more buses?
Mostly Melbourne's north. Eight routes around Craigieburn, Roxburgh Park and Broadmeadows get extra trips each week, adding up to 202 by our count of Transport Victoria's list:

- Route 542, Roxburgh Park to Pascoe Vale: 58 extra trips a week, and a bus every 40 minutes on Saturday evenings
- Route 532, Craigieburn to Broadmeadows: 30 extra, about every 20 minutes until 9pm on weeknights
- Routes 528 and 537 in Craigieburn: 24 extra each
- Routes 529 and 533 to Craigieburn North: 19 extra each
- Route 525, Donnybrook to Craigieburn: 18 extra
- Route 543, Craigieburn Central to Roxburgh Park: 10 extra
On routes 525, 528, 529, 533 and 537, buses run every 20 minutes on weeknights until 10pm, then every 40 minutes until the last bus, and every 20 minutes on Saturday nights from 8pm.
What else changes?
Route 524, Kalkallo to Peppercorn Hill, will start earlier on weekdays, at 5.20am from Peppercorn Hill, to connect with the 5.48am train to Southern Cross.
Route 534 between Glenroy and Coburg will run later on weeknights: until 9.18pm to Glenroy and 9.50pm from Glenroy.
Route 541 between Broadmeadows and Craigieburn North gets a bus every 20 minutes on weeknights until the last bus, better timed to meet trains at Roxburgh Park.
Buses on public holidays
For the first time, routes 404, 407, 414, 415 and 538 will run on public holidays, except Good Friday and Christmas Day.
