Fibre broadband coming to more than 19,000 Victorian homes and businesses
A $133 million nbn co and Connecting Victoria program will bring fibre to the premises in 70 towns and suburbs.

More than 19,000 homes and businesses in 70 Victorian towns and suburbs will be upgraded to fibre broadband, according to the Victorian Government.
Minister for Government Services Enver Erdogan announced the $133 million program on 22 October. It is a partnership between nbn co and Connecting Victoria.
What it means
The program will deliver fibre-to-the-premises technology, which runs high-speed fibre optic cable directly into each home or business. According to the release, this means download speeds of up to one gigabit per second.
The first upgrades are expected to finish in 2027, with the rest rolling out through to 2030.
More than 2,000 homes and businesses in Ararat, Donald, Castlemaine, Horsham, Mortlake, Sebastopol and Wendouree will be able to swap fixed wireless for fibre.
How it is funded
The upgrades are enabled by the expansion of nbn co's national fibre upgrade program, backed by a $3.8 billion Commonwealth funding package announced in January 2025, including $800 million from nbn co.
The government says Connecting Victoria has already improved internet for more than 100,000 homes and businesses in more than 180 towns and suburbs.
